About
Hello, my name is Zeth, I'll be your host here.
Command Line Warriors is about taking control of your own technology, it looks at our experiences of computing; especially using GNU/Linux, the Python programming language, the command-line and issues such as techno-ethics, best practices and whatever is cool now. If you take control of your technology then you are a Warrior too!
This site is your site too which means that you can contribute and get involved. You can leave comments using the facility provided. For me, the comments and discussions are by far the best part of the site. So please do have your say!

I want to load the mplayer/mencoder program on my Pentium 4 for DVD player and ripping. The trouble is that beyond knowing what a path is and a dozen or so DOS commands I have little actual knowledge of command code symbology and syntax for any OS, let alone something like Linux. Do you know of a step by step tutorial for at least loading MPlayer and all of its prerequisite software for Windows XP? Perhaps after it's successfully and fully loaded, I may be able to use its built in help file (assuming it has one) to learn how to write commands to get it player/encoder to do what I want.
Please advise.
